More control over rates, carriers, packaging, and everyday shipping decisions.

Shipping is more than getting an order from point A to point B. The rates you quote, the carriers you choose, and the way orders are packaged can all affect operating costs, margins, employee productivity, and the customer experience.

With M.O.M. 13 Genesis Release 2, arriving September 29th, we’re introducing a collection of shipping enhancements designed to give merchants greater control over those decisions while making everyday shipping workflows faster and easier.

Here’s a closer look at what’s coming.

Start with Your Negotiated Shippo Rates

One of the biggest shipping enhancements in M.O.M. 13 Genesis Release 2 is the ability to use negotiated carrier rates returned through Shippo as the base freight amount during order entry.

Why does that matter?

When a CSR quotes shipping to a customer, the underlying freight rate should reflect the rates available to your business as closely as possible. Using your negotiated rate as the starting point can provide a better foundation for calculating what the customer should ultimately be charged.

And importantly, this doesn’t mean abandoning the shipping rules you’ve already established in M.O.M.

Your negotiated Shippo rate can serve as the base freight amount, while M.O.M. continues to apply existing shipping logic such as:

  • Handling fees and markups
  • COD charges
  • Free-shipping rules
  • Applicable surcharges
  • Other existing customer-specific shipping configurations

The result is a shipping calculation that combines real-time negotiated carrier pricing with the M.O.M. business rules you already use.

For CSRs, that means better information when quoting freight before fulfillment. For the business, it can provide greater visibility and control over the relationship between carrier costs and customer shipping charges.

Focus Rate Shopping on the Carriers That Matter to You

More choices aren’t always better.

If your business routinely ships with a specific group of carriers, sorting through every available service can add unnecessary noise to rate shopping.

M.O.M. 13 Genesis Release 2 adds carrier preference filters for:

UPS • USPS • FedEx • DHL

Preferred carriers can be configured as part of your Rate Shop shipping method mapping. When Rate Shop opens, those preferences can automatically determine which carrier results are initially displayed.

Need something different for a particular shipment? Users can adjust the carrier filters during the rate-shopping session.

If no carrier preferences are configured, Rate Shop continues to show all available rates by default.

It’s a simple change designed to make rate comparisons faster and more focused without taking choices away from the user.

Make FedEx One Rate® Options Easier to Find

For merchants interested in eligible Fedex One Rate services, M.O.M. 13 Genesis Release 2 makes those results easier to isolate.

A new option allows Rate Shop to display only FedEx One Rate® results, excluding other carrier and service results from the list when the filter is enabled.

Instead of searching through a larger collection of returned rates to identify the services you’re looking for, your team can focus directly on eligible One Rate choices.

When the option isn’t enabled, Rate Shop continues to operate using its existing behavior.

Make Packaging Decisions Using More Than Dimensions

Choosing the right box isn’t always just about whether everything fits.

Weight matters, too.

A container may have enough physical space for an order but still have a maximum weight capacity that shouldn’t be exceeded.

M.O.M. 13 Genesis Release 2 expands box-template capabilities to account for both package volume and maximum weight capacity when determining an appropriate box.

There’s another piece of the shipping-weight equation: the container itself.

Consider a 30-pound product being shipped in a 10-pound wooden crate. The shipment doesn’t weigh 30 pounds—it weighs 40.

New container-weight functionality allows the weight associated with the selected box or container to be added to the shipment weight, providing a better representation of the package being shipped.

Together, these enhancements can help teams make more informed packaging decisions before a shipment leaves the warehouse.

Support USPS HAZMAT Requirements Through Shippo

Shipping hazardous materials requires additional information and carrier-specific handling.

M.O.M. 13 Genesis Release 2 adds support for passing the required HAZMAT designation through Shippo for applicable USPS shipments.

This enhancement helps merchants incorporate USPS HAZMAT requirements into their existing M.O.M. shipping workflow rather than treating that information as a disconnected step in the fulfillment process.

What Does This Mean for M.O.M. Merchants?

Individually, each enhancement addresses a specific part of shipping. Together, they support a broader goal: helping your team make better-informed shipping decisions with less friction.

With the shipping enhancements coming in M.O.M. 13 Genesis Release 2, merchants can:

  • Work with negotiated Shippo rates when calculating freight
  • Maintain existing M.O.M. shipping rules on top of those rates
  • Focus rate comparisons on preferred carriers
  • Find eligible FedEx One Rate® services faster
  • Consider both dimensions and weight when selecting packaging
  • Account for container weight when determining shipment weight
  • Support applicable USPS HAZMAT requirements through Shippo

Whether your priority is controlling freight costs, improving CSR productivity, simplifying rate shopping, or strengthening warehouse workflows, these enhancements give your team more tools to manage shipping from within M.O.M.
